Recently, my husband, Grant Cardone, crossed the finish line to billionaire status. Yet did you know that it was me who pushed him to the billion-dollar goal in the first place? More than that, his initial reaction to this target may surprise you…
Now, I know I’ve made reference to this in the past. However, I realized that — outside a few speaking engagements — I hadn’t shared all the details…
I prefer to keep most things in my marriage between me and Grant, but this story is too good not to share — especially for my other power couples out there.
Without waiting any longer, this is the story of the billion-dollar goal…
“How can you ask that of me?!”
Grant is famous for setting almost impossible targets and never lowering them. Nonetheless, his first reaction to my goal for him was to be upset!
“You only want that because you aren’t the hammer… You don’t know what it takes to make a billion dollars… How can you ask that of me?” Grant railed at me.
For a moment, I thought I shouldn’t have said that to him because of his reaction.
At the same time, I know and love my husband. As his wife, I know I can’t let him settle for less…
I know his true potential.
For this reason, I stood my ground and told him…
“You need to be a billionaire because that is who you are. It’s not a financial thing. It’s because you are THAT big, Grant Cardone… a billion dollars shows you’ve helped enough people.”
Afterwards, Grant agreed with me and we worked towards that billion-dollar goal together.
In the end, Grant made it happen. But by the same token, he wouldn’t have gone for it unless I put the idea there.
What I want to impart to you with this funny little story is that making each other better is what a strong relationship is all about — not being satisfied with moderate success.
Find the one you trust and Build an Empire,
Elena Cardone
