There has never been a better time to be a big spender. I mean, with new gadgets being released every day, who doesn’t want to get in on the action? Why wouldn’t you want what you want?

The downside is that so many more people are spending money on whatever they want instead of what they need long term…

And they are doing it without even thinking.

But what exactly is holding people back from building the life they deserve? The answer is actually much simpler than you think.

What Do You Want?

Now whenever anyone spends money on something casually

They’re always blaming anyone and anything but themselves.

I see it happen all the time… it’s always “It was on sale,” or “I’ve always wanted to try this,” and even worse “I deserve a treat.”

Here’s the thing…

THERE IS ONLY ONE PERSON WHO HIT THAT CHECKOUT LINE AND IT WAS NOBODY ELSE BUT YOU.

As expensive as things are right now, nobody is changing their habits to save money and invest in their long-term goals.

And I’m not against rewarding yourself for big accomplishments. But if you’re treating yourself every day…

You’re not treating yourself. You’re cheating yourself.

The reality is simple:

The more you spend thoughtlessly on the things you want now, the less you have for the bigger, more important things that you NEED.

What Are Your Needs Vs. Your Wants?

Like I mentioned earlier, it is almost dangerously easy to spend money without a second thought nowadays.

You don’t even need your wallet to spend money anymore, you can just use your phone!

So now before you make any financial decisions, no matter how big they are, I want you to ask yourself this:

“Do I really need this?”

You have to determine if what you want is just because “I want it” or if you think it will actually help you achieve your long-term goals.

The moment you can come up with a legitimate answer, then you have a use for whatever it is you’re purchasing.

If you can’t control your finances with restraint and discipline…

You’re just throwing away everything you’ve worked for.

What You Want To Do Next…

What you have to focus on is your priorities…

Not just for right now, but for the course of your life.

If you’re planning on buying a home or making a big investment

All the little things you’re throwing your money at are just sacrificing your actual plans

WHEN YOU DON’T NEED WHAT YOU WANT, YOU SACRIFICE ALL THE THINGS YOU DO NEED.

Be honest with yourself.

Look at how you’re spending your time, money, and resources. Figure out what your problem is, and make a budget if you have to…

The sooner you realize that money is a tool to build the life you deserve, the sooner you will stop spending it without thinking.

Stop wasting your money and start investing in building the life you want to be living.

Be Great,

Grant Cardone
