People say there’s a recession on the horizon.
I say it’s already here.
Walt Disney had this to say about recession…
He said “I’ve heard there’s going to be a recession. I’ve decided not to participate.”
I’d say things worked out pretty well for Walt Disney.
And they worked out pretty well for me in the Great Recession of 2008-2009.
Why? Because I hit those hard times head-on. And I accelerated my expansion.
Recessions are NOT times to back off… they’re times of opportunity.
In order to thrive in recessions, you have to expand – not contract.
It’s time to be on the offense – not the defense.
Here’s the Opportunity…
First, don’t get negative. You have to keep your head in the game. If you let yourself get negative, you’ll really be screwed.
Next, figure out what sectors will survive long term.
Products and services that truly make people healthier… wealthier… or find and keep love… tend to last.
On the other hand, fads fade. Especially in bad times.
Last, keep on the lookout for opportunities.
It’s an unfortunate fact there are business owners even in these sectors that will not survive…
Either because they let themselves get negative… or they contracted when they should have expanded.
Their loss is your opportunity.
Can you find a business or other asset that’s undervalued… and scoop it up cheap? Or buy on terms with no money out of pocket at all?
Of course, you can. Those opportunities always exist.
And your own backyard is about to be flooded with them.
All you have to do is have the right mindset…
Just because there’s a recession doesn’t mean you have to participate.
