Becoming one of the best fighters in the world doesn’t come easy. And there’s no one who knows that better than Mike Chandler.
Growing up in the small town of Highridge, Missouri, Chandler shared with Grant that the people around him taught him to think small…
And to act even smaller.
But that all changed when Chandler started wrestling in high school. Not only did the martial arts change the trajectory of his life, it also changed his perspective on all things going forward. On stage, he said,
“I JUST TOOK A CHANCE AND I LOVED HAND-TO-HAND COMBAT. I KNEW THAT WHAT I DID, THERE WAS NOT A MAN ON THE PLANET WHO WAS GOING TO OUTWORK ME. I DON’T CARE WHO YOU ARE, I’M GOING TO BEAT YOU.”
But his life wasn’t success after success after success…
And creating a legacy isn’t about what you do when everything is going perfectly…
It’s about what you do when you get knocked down. For Mike Chandler, true success comes from working hard when it’s easier not to.
“THIS HAS BEEN 22 YEARS OF DOING THE SAME THING AND FAILURE AFTER FAILURE. THE SUN’S GONNA RISE AGAIN AND I’M GOING TO PUT ON MY GLOVES. THE HARD WORK WILL ALWAYS BE THERE BUT YOU CAN’T BE GIVING UP.”
