We all know that Grant Cardone loves real estate. However, he brought someone to the 10X Growth Conference who is just as passionate about it as he is — Don Peebles. And while they both have had different strategies to succeed in the space, they agree that relationships are key…
Don Peebles: Coincidence & Connections Got Him in the Game
R. Donahue Peebles has made millions of dollars developing real estate. His expert opinion on the subject is valued by media outlets like Fox News.
Yet, the mogul revealed to GC on Day Two of the 10X Growth Conference that he needed help in the beginning…
Originally, Don Peebles intended to become a doctor. But, he decided not to pursue that and ended up in his hometown of Washington D.C. as a real estate appraiser.
Subsequently, his best friend became the mayor with Peebles’s help. This connection would result in his first development deal — which changed his life.
“ [THE DEAL] TRANSFORMED MY LIFE. I DIDN’T NEED TO WORK ANYMORE. THAT DEAL MADE ME A MULTI-MILLIONAIRE. I WAS LIBERATED FROM EARNING A LIVING.”
Although he could have stopped there, Don Peebles stuck with real estate to further prosperity.
Nevertheless, he warns you can’t get to the top the same way he did anymore…
New Way to Win in the Real Estate Game
The conversation moved into how Grant uses private equity for his deals. This is the opposite of how banks were the main source of capital in the past.
To which, Don Peebles commented:
“BANKS NO LONGER MAKE LOANS IN THE SAME WAY. PRIVATE EQUITY IS THE DOMINANT PLAYER IN PRIVATE ACQUISITION.”
It was truly incredible to see two knowledgeable men discuss something with such deep insight.
