Rapper, designer, producer, and self-proclaimed “greatest artist of human existence” Kanye West has yet again taken Instagram by storm. And it’s all a monster lesson about the importance of omnipresence.

If you’ve been living under a rock recently, let’s recap Kanye’s life and how he’s used Instagram omnipresence to stir up conversation.

The rapper and his ex-wife, Kim Kardashian, have been spotlighted for an intrusive social media war. Kanye has been against Kim’s new life and is making absurd claims about her and others in her life.

Now, I don’t want to get in too deep about their personal life. Still, I wanted to shed light on how Kanye West has become omnipresent and used Instagram to feed the flames — before launching his highly-anticipated Donda 2 album last night.

What is omnipresence?

Omnipresent is defined as “existing at all places simultaneously.” It’s also described as an entity that is present everywhere.

Kanye West took this definition literally by becoming an aggressive presence on social media.

Not only did he flood news feeds on Twitter, but also — most recently — his own Instagram page.

Kanye West’s Instagram omnipresence takeover

On Kanye West’s Instagram, you’ll usually find photos of the rapper hanging out with celebrities to taking selfies with fans. The one thing that continues to be consistent is the videos of him playing around in a studio, working on new music.

His posts have garnered over 1.5 million views, 2.4 million likes and 100,000 comments on one video alone. This has allowed him to control the media conversation about him. By having people post videos of his antics without giving an interview or hosting a press release about it.

But since his feud began, he removed all of his photos and made a handful of posts that everyone has their eyes on.

Kanye is once again the center of attention among followers, either hating on his actions or defending him.

Whether you’re a Kanye fan or not, you have to admit that he is brilliant with his social media tactics. His approach has enabled him to capture people’s attention for his upcoming album or fashion line.

But how can brands use this tactic?

Now, I’m not suggesting that every brand follow in Kanye’s footsteps and flood their Instagram page with content with no tagline or captions. I think brands can use this tactic to get ahead of the conversation by doing something interesting, fun, and engaging.

People will remember you more when they see your brand on social media, but it will also get them talking about you, which is what every brand wants.

This is why celebrities like Kim Kardashian take selfies or well-known brands that post pictures of people traveling around the world to get more engagement on their pages.

What matters most is for your business to show up in unexpected ways and make it fun and exciting by posting content that will get people talking. And post a lot of it.

This is how you become omnipresent.

The more you show up everywhere, the more likely people will recognize you and eventually do business with you.
