Why is this day so special to me? I remember clearly sitting in Joe Hefners’ office 5 years ago and I told him that I was going to achieve 100 REAL ESTATE CLOSINGS in a year.  It took me a little longer than I anticipated but TODAY (11/30/2017) the Good Time Tommy team closed on that 100 transaction! Have you ever had a dominant focus so big that you didn’t think there would be a way you would hit it? The focus was so big that people laughed at you and said there was no way you could do that. When you hear it over and over again that these little doubts start to creep in your mind. You start to ask yourself, “damn is it really as important as I thought it was.” But I made a commitment that day to Joe and to myself that this is something that I wanted. You see I am a very half ass guy. I am very mediocre.  I have never experienced success on that level.  What I found was the talk was easy to come out and say, “we are going to do this, I am going to do this. I can do 100 transactions.” At that time, I was doing 40-45 transactions on my own. But I knew there was a way. I didn’t know how to at the time. But I made the decision that this goal would be made one day. So, I challenged myself every day. Every decision I made was toward 100 deals. Every time something came up, I asked myself, “is this going to get me to that threshold.” Me being a very average person, I needed help from other people. Proof over 40 years showed me that my results were not good enough by myself. So, I leaned on other people. Other people that made me feel better about me. Of course, I had my mom, Linda Brooks, who helped me through my lowest of my lows after the late 2007 collapse. Your mom is always there for you. The one that always believes in you. Thank you, mom, for giving me the strength to stay focused and overlook all the setbacks. Micheal Burt is the Super Coach. He can take a mediocre person like me and transform them into championship level producers. Coach became one of my closest friends. We are very best friend to this day. Because of how close we were, I never wanted to let him down. I was seeing the success he had and I felt like maybe I can’t keep up with what he is doing but it’s still going to help me play at a much higher level. I worked for John Jones. I have worked for him for 15 years now. He has been my mentor, a big brother, a complete d*** at times, but I would not be where I am without the platform he has given me to thrive on. There were times that she listened to me b**** and complain, much more than I needed. Brittany Rene’ challenged me, she pushed me, she was the inspiration that I needed to keep fighting through the down times. It’s very easy to walk in the good times but it’s much more difficult when times are down. So, I ask you, do YOU have something deep inside that wants to hit something much higher than you are currently targeting? Do you want to raise the bar? Do you want to play at a higher level? And everything starts with a decision to chase that goal, but it cannot be done without great mentors in your life.
