A.I. Graphic Design

Many industries are feeling the heat from the uprise in artificial intelligence. And, human jobs aren’t looking so secure. However, graphic design professionals aren’t worried about A.I. making them go extinct. These are the reasons leading designers aren’t threatened…

Visual Specialists are Adaption Experts

There is one reason other fields died in the A.I. revolution. They can’t keep up. Manufacturing, food service, and banking come to mind as prime examples.

In contrast, web graphics is a young trade in the grand scheme of things. Artists in graphic design constantly incorporate new tech — so, A.I. is no different…

As of now, auto-generative image software cannot fully complete a design campaign. It can only create a “mood-board” style layout that designers can draw inspiration from while working…

No matter how well you instruct the program’s prompts.

For that reason, artificial intelligence doesn’t save significant time in the design process.

Co-founder and CEO of Design Army, Jake Lefebure, told CNBC this about the current state of A.I. and graphic design:

“IT TAKES A LOT OF FINESSING AND YOU REALLY NEED TO TRAIN THE A.I. YOU NEED TO CRAFT THE VOCABULARY TO GET THE RESULTS YOU WANT. IT’S NOT A MIND READER.”

On top of that, the industry as a whole has the right viewpoint of this burgeoning technology…

Graphic Design Sees A.I. as “Just a Tool”

Forward thinkers in graphic design are not viewing A.I. as an end-all solution and are therefore not afraid of advancement.

“WE USE AI IN A WAY THAT IS MORE A CREATIVE TOOL PROCESS, AS OPPOSED TO HOW A LOT OF PEOPLE ENVISION IT: TELL IT WHAT TO DO AND ALL YOUR PROBLEMS CAN BE SOLVED,” LEFEBURE COMMENTED.

Therein lies the secret to graphic design’s staying power. As long as your position or industry can solve problems, you will never be obsolete.

Stay ahead of the game and be great.
