From Sarah Rice’s Instagram account, she looks like your average 16-year-old — selfies, photos with friends, and reels of school activities. However, she is a teen entrepreneur passionate about climate change who just won thousands in funding for her business…
Recently, Sarah’s eco-friendly clothing line, Beeware Apparel, just landed her second place in the latest 10X Pitch Off hosted by the Grant Cardone Foundation.
For placing second, Sarah received $7,000 to help grow her sustainable fashion company, as well as a swag box full of Grant Cardone’s 10X materials.
Here is more about the Sarah Rice, her business, and most importantly, her dedication to reversing climate change.
“You Can’t Fix a Global Problem by Staying Local” — Sarah Rice
Sarah Rice comes from Washington, D.C. and wants to become an environmental scientist when she completes her education. That being said, she also wanted an avenue to create financial freedom for herself.
With that purpose in mind, Rice created her environmentally-conscious clothing line, Beeware Apparel.
“My favorite thing about my business is the mission. The people making the decisions around climate change won’t be around to suffer the consequences, but I’m making change now,” Sarah says about her motivation to take on the challenge of entrepreneurship at such an early age.
The teen was given the opportunity to participate in the 10X Pitch Off through a partnership between the Grant Cardone Foundation and Tumaini DC — a youth program the the D.C. area that Rice is enrolled in.
Be that as it may, Sarah Rice wants her message and brand to be heard everywhere.
“I’ll launch and use my network to really expand and get the name out there,” the young environmentalist says. “The goal is to get this everywhere. I love D.C., but you can’t fix a global issue by staying local.”
The passion in her pitch moved the panel of executive judges to award her the second prize.
The Future of Beeware Apparel
Despite her youth, Sarah has a good head on her shoulders when it comes to how she plans to use her prize money.
“The money will go towards production and marketing,” Sarah explains. “I want to make sure every penny of the prize money makes me a dollar.”
She is currently getting Beeware Apparel’s social media and website up and running while simultaneously working on production of the brand’s merchandise.
On top of that, Rice says she is writing a book as well as poetry!
Sarah describes her vigor as “creativity that borders on crazy,” but it just sounds like 10X to us.
Here’s to her continued success in fashion, environmentalism, and entrepreneurship!
