At 5:11 a.m. on March 5th, police responded to an electrical pylon that had caught fire near Tesla’s factory in Grunheide.
According to the German newspaper, Bild, all of the employees working at the plant evacuated safely.
The subsequent power outage affected approximately 2,000 households in several Berlin districts. Nonetheless, authorities didn’t have to wait long to discover what happened…

Who Set Fire to the Tesla Factory — and Why?
The far-left political organization, “Volcano Group,” claimed the arson on the Kontrapolis website.
In their statement, Volcano Group went on to voice their concerns about the Tesla factory’s environmental impact.
“WE SABOTAGED TESLA TODAY. OUR GIFT FOR MARCH 8TH IS TO SHUT DOWN TESLA… CONSUMES EARTH, RESOURCES, PEOPLE, WORKERS AND IN RETURN SPITS OUT 6,000 SUVS, KILLER CARS AND MONSTER TRUCKS EACH WEEK.”
The timing of the plant’s sabotage is no coincidence. It is right after Tesla asked for approval to expand the factory to keep up in the self-driving car race.
Had the expansion been approved, it would have resulted in 100 hectares — 247 acres — of nearby forest being cleared.

Due to the attack, production at the Grunheide plant is paused for the time being.
Currently, no members of the Volcano Group responsible for the crime have been identified or charged.
