When you are married to a man like Grant Cardone, it goes without saying that our relationship is unique. Even with this in mind, you’ll never believe what happened the day I told him I scratched up our brand-new Cadillac Escalade…
Let me give a little bit of backstory so you understand why I reacted the way I did at first…
Recently, my family moved into a beautiful new home in Malibu, California. Simultaneously, we purchased a brand-new Cadillac Escalade.
This car is gorgeous. It’s the color of fresh cream with all the bells and whistles.
So here I was driving this amazing vehicle for the first time when I went to pull it into the garage…
And the width of the car was a bit trickier to manage in our narrow parking area. On top of that, there was a barrel right in front of where my bumper needed to be.
As a result, I misjudged my turn and scratched the car against the wall of the carport — but also on the front against the barrel.
I WAS MORTIFIED.
There was no way around it. I had to tell Grant, so I went inside to face the music…
Grant’s Reaction Left Me Speechless
With my tail between my legs, I pulled Grant aside and let him know what happened. After, we proceeded outside to assess the damage to the brand-new Cadillac.
To add insult to injury about this accident, most of our “lover’s spats” are about his reckless driving.
I just knew I would never live this down, which made the tears start flowing despite myself…
“What? This is somehow my fault?” he said in frustration.
“No,” I sobbed. “You and Ryan [our pilot] are going to make fun of me and never let this down!”
Immediately, he started laughing. “You’re right about that,” Grant said with a chuckle.
But what Grant said next is what really choked me up…
“Is this really how low you’re going?
We’re building empires. We’ve built this whole thing together.
We have our health, we have our children, our future plans…
You should be thanking the Lord that this is our problem. We can have the car fixed in a week…
You are a good driver, Elena. You don’t need to apologize or shed another tear over this.”
Of course, those words made me cry again.
The Bigger Picture
At that moment, I was reminded of just how strong our relationship is.
