COMPUTER SOFTWARE TALK MAY BE BORING BUT YOUR BUSINESS NEEDS IT YOU WANT TO EXPAND YOUR BUSINESS? WE NEED TO TALK …SOFTWARE CHOOSING THE RIGHT SOFTWARE WILL 10X YOUR BUSINESS Part 1: The Issue Typically, when starting a business, integrative software may not be your top priority. You may incorporate different software into your business process at different times creating various functional areas that don’t flow together resulting in inconsistencies within your business. This may start in the beginning of your business using a function like QuickBooks for your bookkeeping. Then as your company continues to grow you may use a software for opportunities, leads, marketing campaigns, and email blasts. To manage customer support you may use a separate software. Then you have inventory, order, and fulfillment management, which may be handled with a separate software or spreadsheet. As your business further increases you may want to expand and have another location, or function on another platform such as online sales. This will inevitably result in having other employees needing to use these same functions. Attempting to share information between offices may become a problem, or also issues with remote workers in the field, having access to the same software systems you have been running your business on. These are some of the stories and issues that Nikos Computer Engineering has heard from clients. Other problems include duplicate data entry, needing to type in data on one system and then on another; then the data is out of sync. In this case, one has data and the other doesn’t. You then have to rely on your employees to transfer this data to all systems. This causes inadequacy, then there are software upgrades where these functions need updates and become more out of sync with the other systems. Not to mention, employee turnover and some of the information that may get lost in the process. The other issues Nikos Computer Engineering has seen include costs. Software licenses, generally require yearly subscription fees. Often times there are upwards of 10 subscriptions to be maintained. This adds up to be more expensive than having custom software built for you. There are also the expenses of backing up all this data, and difference products have different methods of backing up. This requires an IT team to set up and monitor your backups. As you understand, there are many issues that come with software this doesn’t flow together. It can be more time consuming, more expensive, and isn’t conducive of growth within your business. Does any of this sounds familiar? Here at Nikos Computer Engineering, we build custom software the way you want it, with your business needs in mind as the foundation of your product.
