Score Goals Illustration

Everyone is talking about the World Cup.

Who’s going to win it all?

Well, I know it won’t be the USA squad. They’ve been out of it for a while.

Some people are saying the Red, White, and Blue met their goals in this World Cup cycle.

Despite having a young team, the USA team qualified for the competition and went unbeaten in group play to advance to the knockout rounds.

Others are asking, “What can they do better to prepare for the World Cup 2026?”

Here’s what I’d do:

1. Set Bigger Goals to Score

You’ve got to have bigger goals.

The goal isn’t to qualify for the competition…

The goal isn’t to go unbeaten in group play…

And the goal isn’t to advance to the knockout rounds…

The goal is to win it all.

You’ve got to have big goals.  I’m talking big 10X Goals.

One of the major reasons people don’t achieve their goals is because they don’t set them high enough in the beginning.  The “experts” are always warning against setting goals “too high.”

The reality is if you start small, you’ll probably finish small.  Failure to think big enough usually means you will never act big enough, often enough, or persistently enough.  Who gets excited about realistic goals?  Who can stay excited with an average payoff?

This is why people bail when they experience resistance.  To maintain your enthusiasm, you have to make your goals big enough that they keep your attention.  Average, realistic goals are always a letdown.

2. Score More Goals

The USA squad only scored 3 goals in 4 games in the World Cup. That just won’t cut it.

They tied Wales 1-1.

Next came a “barn burner” 0-0 tie with England.

Then a “nail biter” 1-0 win against Iran.

And we’re not going to talk about the Netherlands game…

You can’t have 0-0 draws.  You’ve got to score goals if you want to win!

First, set big 10X Goals. Next, write down your goals every morning and every evening.

I’m not talking about a “to-do” list…

I’m not talking about the people you need to call on today…

And I’m not talking about a plan…

I’m talking about the things that drive you.

If you aren’t focused on your goals every day, you are going to spend your whole life making someone else’s goals and dreams a reality.

Stay motivated on your targets, your goals, and your purposes.

The first thing I do every morning is to write my goals down.

I want you to do the same.

Now that you’ve written your Big 10X Goals, you want to focus on your daily target.

3. Focus on Daily Targets

Why would I want to focus on my daily target?

Because I want to see what I’m accomplishing.   Because it’s fuel.   And because it makes me feel good about myself.

Just like you need to have a lifetime target, a yearly target, and a monthly target.   You need to have daily targets.

What do you want to accomplish today?  Who do you want to contact today?   What would be a successful day for you?

Stay focused on your daily target.

Set Big 10X Goals.  Write your goals down every day.  Set daily targets.

This is what the winners do.
