Tubi aims to be an even bigger competitor to Netflix and has been planning a huge expansion of its service to do just that. 

Tubi is expanding its operations to the UK

A move years in the making. 

Fox purchased the streamer in 2020 for $440 million.

But what sets this company apart?

THEY PROVIDE MOVIE AND TV STREAMING COMPLETELY FOR FREE

The streamer is completely ad-supported and, in the U.S., has over 80 million monthly active users. 

This move puts Netflix and other competitors in an awkward position. Many major streamers have recently introduced new paid ad-supported tiers in their subscription offerings…

But with a streamer like Tubi, it might lead people to ask, “Why pay for a subscription with ads when we could stream with ads for free?”

The UK expansion is a good move to try to grab the Netflix competitor more active users, however, compared to the U.S.…

The UK streaming market is already oversaturated with free ad-supported streaming. But for Tubi, the timing couldn’t be more right. Tubi chief executive Anjali Sud said the following:

“TUBI HAS SPENT THE LAST DECADE HONING OUR APPROACH TO VAST, FREE AND FUN STREAMING IN NORTH AMERICA, AND WE FEEL THAT NOW IS THE PERFECT TIME TO BRING THAT RECIPE TO UK AUDIENCES,”
