Few things have made such a profound impact on my life outside of attending the 10xGrowthCon via Live Stream two weeks ago. I believe wholeheartedly that the strongest way to succeed in business and is life is to surround yourself with wise mentors and those willing to share their knowledge. I also believe the only way to succeed is to ensure you constantly immerse yourself in knowledge and training, constantly reading books, watching videos of mentors and taking every moment of your day to learn something new.

Grant Cardone has always been one of my top mentors. I am a saleswoman, most recently a sales manager. Very early in my tenure as a sales manager I attended an appointment with a company in the DFW area, Freedom Powersports. As I sat in this tremendous glassed in, modern office waiting for my prospect, I noticed a book on their coffee table – The 10X Quote Book by Grant Cardone, incidentally this copy was signed. I flipped through it and was hooked. I took out my phone and took a photo of the book. After the meeting I went to my car and searched for the book online, and the rest was history. Grant Cardone is not only a phenomenal salesman, but also extraordinarily humble, transparent and willing to give all his energy every moment of the day to sharing his knowledge.

From the moment the 10XGrowthCon was announced, I knew I would be in attendance, if only virtually. I watched in Grant’s mastery as he did live stream after live stream on social media, ran promotions and up to the very end – I’m talking the weekend before the event – sat at his own office until well after midnight on a Friday and all weekend into Sunday taking calls alongside his team for those wishing to buy last minute tickets. I stayed up late watching via live stream this extraordinary, free training he was conducting – I watched as he overcame objections of buyers, as he worked his sales process like a pro. He could have been doing a million things on Friday night, but there was Grant, giving his unsurpassed training to us all. I hung onto every word, watched what he said to prospects, took a few notes and most importantly I learned – not only about sales processes but also about the hustle and doing whatever it takes to make it happen.

A few days later during the 10XGrowthCon Live Stream, I learned even more. I took more pages of notes than I can say and hung onto my phone and tablet all weekend to watch. Since then I have watched pieces of it over and over and over again until it becomes practice. I have watched Tim Grover, Jack Jackintelle, and Les Brown’s speeches at least 10 times each along with countless others.

Here are the Top 10 (it was extremely difficult to chose 10, I could’ve written the Top 100) in no set order:

1. Go harder when everyone else has had enough. Nothing is going to change unless you change your mindset. It is not a sprint, it is a marathon, but the people that win the marathon are sprinting. Time is not on everyone’s side, get as much done as you can today and then do it again tomorrow. You are either getting better or your getting worse, if you are staying the same, you are getting worse. Make decisions, not suggestions. Successful people are not intimidated by pressure, they thrive on it, they see it as a privilege. Greatness is achieved through education, research, trials and errors to be able to get to the don’t think stage – the stage where you can act instinctively. In sales, this means you can overcome objections without thinking, because you have researched, tried and tried again rebuttals to train on what works. Always go harder. – Tim Grover

2. People are looking for successful people to follow. If you have a team that has to be forced into stuff, then you have the wrong team. You need to be able to say here’s the objective, there is the mountain, now let’s go climb it. The goal is to create lasting success, the bonfire that burns forever. You will only be successful to the degree people push you up – if you are the only cheerleader in the room it won’t work. – Tom Cummins

3. Organizations must have clear performance standards. No options. No organization cannot afford to tell it’s employee’s “do the best you can” – this is a failing formula. You must say, “you need x number of sales or x number of appointments.” Clear standards are fair to the company, fair to the employees and enforceable. If an employee is let go and they go home and tell their spouse they “think” they got let go because of x reason – we have failed. This is a washed out way of motivating. The employee needs to go home and say I was let go because I failed because I didn’t live up to the clear expectations of what it takes to get the job done.” It must be clear. Being “crystal clear” is important – this starts in the interview phase. A leader cannot delegate culture – it starts at the top and it must be owned every day. The goal is to never sit down to terminate anyone and have them say they didn’t see it coming. Set clear expectations and performance standards. – Jack Jackintelle

4. If someone works in your organization and they don’t want to train daily, kick them out. Train everyday and never stop. Training isn’t something you did, it is something you do. The more you know, the more you grow, the more you learn the more you earn. Side note, Brad Lea had a fire in his presentation that stood out – dare to go all in, the audience feeds off energy. Gloria Mayfield shared this same power on the stage, stay around ambitious, excited, energetic people and you will go further. – Brad Lea and Gloria Mayfield

5. You cannot work smarter until you have learned how to work smarter. Life is a series of mentors. Successful people like to see other people successful. Serve others and your message will be received. Russell Brunson’s message surrounded itself around the Tony Robbin’s model “If you want to achieve success, all you need to do is model those who have already succeeded.” Russell came at the crowd a million miles an hour, he caught the crowd on fire and then put it out with his garden hose analogy at the end. Go all in, give it your all every single time. – Russell Brunson and Danelle Delgado

6. Speak deep convicting prophesies to yourself and they will come true. The things we repeat to ourselves are the things that manifest. Speak positive, surround yourself with mentors and never give up. – Roddy Chong

7. Become an expert in your space – connect through collaboration and work to fill a void in your market. Do whatever it takes to become the expert. – Kevin Harrington

8. Do the best thing you can today and then do it again tomorrow. You don’t need a ton of resources to start, leverage, take in all the knowledge you can and keep going – you will figure it out along the way. – Daymond John

9. Make a decision to be the best and don’t let anyone stop you. Take the time out of the decision. Take constant action. Build your team and don’t waver from it. – Elena Cardone and Jarrod Glandt

10. People who are hungry for success always strive to be on the top of the mountain, people who are hungry for success say no excuse is acceptable – they are different and uncommon. Les Brown, one of Toastmaster’s Top 5, shared a quote he used to recite to his mother. I had to watch the video many times to transcribe it all, but this is what is reads – it may be one of the most profound things I have ever read – “If you want a thing bad enough, to go out and fight for it, to work day and night for it, to give up your time, your peace, and sleep for it. If all that you dream and scheme is about it, and life seems useless and worthless without it, and if you’d gladly sweat for it and fret for it, and plan for it and lose all your terror of the opposition for it and if you simply go after that thing that you want with all of your, strength and segacity, faith, hope and confidence and stern pertinacity. If neither cold, poverty, famish or sickness or pain or body or brain can keep you away from the thing that you want, doget and grim you besiege and beset it, with the help of God you will get it.” He reminded the crowd of the greatness we all have inside us and urged us to be the voice of change. He was phenomenal. – Les Brown

Thank you Grant Cardone for a life changing conference, filled with mentors from the highest mountains in the business world. Thank you sharing your knowledge and for doing so with a servant attitude. You put together the strongest series of mentors that have collaborated together this year and I am fortunate for the opportunity to have attended. I will be there in person in 2018.
