Today, I’m going to address one of the most frequently asked questions I get.
“Grant, what’s your number one rule for success?”
And each time I hear that question, I give the same short answer: Just Show Up.
Here’s the longer version…
It’s been said that 90% of all success that people have boils down to showing up.
Have you ever known someone that got lucky a lot? Closed a lot of sales even though they weren’t the most talented salesperson on the team?
You know what they did? They showed up.
You can’t get lucky if you don’t show up.
All highly successful people know that they have to show up and that’s what they do. They just keep showing up.
What does showing up mean to me?
It starts with getting out of bed in the morning. Sure, everyone has times where they don’t want to get out of bed.
But if you want to succeed, then you just get out of bed and get your day started. The only thing that sleeping longer gets you is a little extra rest.
Get out of bed in the morning and grab a shower. Put your clothes on and then get to work.
If you need to make a phone call, do it.
So what do you do if you don’t know what to say on the call?
Just make the call and you’ll figure it out.
A customer call comes in… don’t ignore it. Take the call.
A customer walks into the store… don’t ignore them or hope someone else takes care of them. Go talk to the customer.
You have an appointment with a prospect… Show up for the appointment.
And show up early.
Just show up folks. Just do the next right thing. And then the next right thing after that.
Just keep doing it.
Because it’s only a matter of time until you do succeed.
And the first step is to just show up.
