SpaceX Fail

After an eight-year streak of successful missions, a technical difficulty caused a massive fail for SpaceX…

Endangering the entire mission.

So what exactly happened to the Falcon 9 rocket while in orbit, and more importantly…

How has the space company been handling the damage control?

SpaceX Fail: What Does This Mean For The Company

On July 11th, a malfunction with the Falcon 9 Rocket fails to put a slew of SpaceX satellites in its correct orbit.

20 satellites were deployed in a lower orbit than intended after the rocket experienced what Elon Musk, the company’s CEO…

Called a rapid unscheduled disassembly, or RUD.

The SpaceX team worked overnight to correct the rocket fail and make contact with the satellites. Unfortunately, due to their placement in the lower orbit…

The satellites were unable to propel themselves into the upper orbit. As such, the satellites will burn up in the atmosphere upon reentry.

THE COMPANY ASSURED THE PUBLIC THAT SATELLITE REENTRY POSES NO THREATS TO PUBLIC SAFETY OR OTHER SATELLITES IN ORBIT.

As for damage control, alongside the Federal Aviation Administration…

SpaceX is launching an investigation into what caused the rocket to fail.

The FAA will need to approve any modifications to the rocket before the Falcon 9 can continue any scheduled missions…

Much to the company’s dismay.

This fail will set SpaceX behind their intended schedule for launches, causing delays in highly anticipated astronaut missions…

And will most likely cause the company to miss their projected target of 140 missions for the year.

Flying High… Or Not…

After this fail, SpaceX has its work cut out for it…

Especially after it was selected by NASA to destroy the ISS

Let’s just hope the company can keep moving forward without any unexpected crash landings.

Be Great,
