1It starts with you

Firstly, one of the most important steps for choosing the right friends is to start being honest with yourself.

Are you being a best friend to yourself?

Opposites attracting is a myth. You will attract whatever you are putting out into the world.

In other words, you have to be the example of the affluent circle you want to have. Start there and the right people will start choosing you. 

2What do you want friends for?

Secondly, you need to know why you want friends. This is something that each person has to decide for themselves. 

For example, my reason for having friends has changed over the years. Nowadays, I want friends so they can better my life and I can better theirs. 

This means sometimes we push each other out of our comfort zones to improve and grow. Ideally, your definition would be similar.

Then, you will choose the right friends, not just “yes men.” 

3Put people in their place

For this last tip, you are going to need something to write with and a piece of paper. Make three columns and label each one as follows: 

  • Fits My Purpose
  • Kind of Fits My Purpose
  • Doesn’t Fit My Purpose at All

Now, put the ten closest people in your life in each of these categories.

As a result, you may find some people need help to stay in your life or don’t belong in it at all anymore.

The toughest part of growing is letting go of the people who can’t grow with you. 

If choosing the right friends were easy, everyone would do it. Also, people would not feel peer pressure to do bad things.
