chick-fil-a app

The biggest name in fast-food chicken sandwiches is launching a streaming service. Starting November 3rd, Chick-fil-A’s media app will be free for families to enjoy.

But why is the fast food chain getting into the streaming business?

Chick-fil-a Play App

Chick-fil-A’s latest initiative, the Chick-fil-A Play app, is the company’s latest move in its long strategy of boosting restaurant sales.

IT MIGHT SEEM OUT OF CHARACTER FOR A RESTAURANT TO LAUNCH A MEDIA APP, BUT THIS MOVE REFLECTS A GREATER SHIFT IN THE MARKETING LANDSCAPE.

The Chick-fil-A Play app houses content created specifically for children ages 12 and under and their families. It includes animated programming, scripted podcasts, e-books, and recipes. The content features family-friendly themes of friendship, problem-solving, and generosity.

Chick-fil-A has been trying to branch out of food sales for a while. This kind of branded content is a unique way of boosting sales because the content feels like content…

Not an ad.

On the Chick-fil-A app, the entertainment can help the brand connect with children and foster goodwill in their parents. Take it from Khalilah Cooper, Chick-fil-A’s vice president of brand strategy…

“WE WANT IT TO BE AN EXTENSION OF OUR IN-RESTAURANT SIGNATURE HOSPITALITY AND GENEROSITY.”

It’s no secret that Chick-fil-A is the third-largest restaurant chain by sales…

Last year, the company made $7.89 billion in revenue.

With this new app, Chick-fil-A doesn’t really need to worry about the same issues that most streamers face.

The Great Marketing Shift

Streaming is notoriously an expensive and difficult endeavor…

ESPECIALLY CONSIDERING THE NUMBER OF FREE AND PAID STREAMING SITES.

But the company isn’t trying to make a profit with ad revenue, its main goal is to use this content to boost restaurant sales.

And Chick-fil-A isn’t alone with this app. More and more brands are branching out into highly produced content. Earlier this year Walmart launched a “romcommerce” shoppable series

And Starbucks announced it’s launching its own production house.

But will Chick-fil-A’s app make the cut against its competitors

Only time will tell…

Be Great,
