Today, young entrepreneurs can only imagine what it’s like to work under Apple founder, Steve Jobs. But at last, we may be able to get a better picture. Jobs’ former intern, Chet Kapoor, has recently opened up about the experience. This is what he had to say…
Young Intern ALWAYS Wanted to Work for Apple’s Steve Jobs
Despite being born in India, Chet Kapoor wanted to work for Steve Jobs ever since he read Apple’s story.
From there, teenage Chet took computer classes. Eventually, he went to college in the United States in hopes of working with his mentor one day…
Finally, the college student got his chance when Steve Jobs left Apple briefly to start a software company, NeXT.
This is what Kapoor told CNBC about working with the tech legend:
“I WAS ONE STEP BELOW THE PERSON THAT OPENED DOORS BUT THAT DIDN’T MATTER BECAUSE I WORKED 20 YARDS AWAY FROM HIM [JOBS] EVERY DAY.”
Further, the former intern went on to talk about how Jobs brought the Apple culture into everything he did.
Mr. Kapoor explained that it was a “strong engineering culture.”
“HE DROVE A VERY HARD, REGIMENTED SCHEDULE BECAUSE OTHERWISE, YOU JUST LEAVE IT, AND IT BECOMES A SCIENCE PROJECT. HE WAS VERY DRIVEN IN THAT REGARD.”

So at the end of the day, what did he use that time close to such a presence end up doing?
What Kapoor Took from the Experience
During his internship with Apple’s CEO, Chet Kapoor “paid close attention to questions” Jobs asked during meetings…
And that paid off big-time.
Kapoor is now the CEO of the generative AI company, DataStax, and is at the forefront of tech.
To this day, he still publicly cites being so near to Steve Jobs as a contribution to that success…
Like the first few years of life, the beginning of your career is the most formative time.

Kapoor’s story is a primary example of the power in proximity…
If you pay attention and put what you hear into action.
