Decision-making can be intimidating if you don’t have the right tools to 10X your skills.

Life is full of tough choices, isn’t it?

You will have to make large and simple decisions in your life that will impact you to varying degrees. I have to make choices that affect hundreds of people employed by me daily.

Here are some pointers on how to make decisions quickly and with confidence. 

10X decision-making skills are aligned with your purpose

This will knock a lot of choices you’re about to make in the “no” category in short order.

Just ask yourself:

“Does this decision align with my purpose or will it help me achieve my goals?”

Nine times out of ten, decisions to slow down or buy something frivolous are easily detected. That means you shouldn’t do it. Easy enough. 

Don’t know your goal or purpose? Figure that out first, and you’ll be making decisions with certainty as an immediate result. 

Adding time to a decision won’t make you more certain

This tip is something that usually applies to clients I’m working with, but it is equally applicable to making decisions.

I know people who take a lot of time looking at all the options before they make a choice. That is not the way to 10X your decision-making skills.

Taking a long time to decide isn’t going to make you feel any better about your decision. Make choices as soon as you have enough information to do so. The more of them you have under your belt, the more in control you’ll feel. 

Remember:

any decision you make will be better than no decision at all.

Be aware of your emotions

Look, I don’t think emotion should play a part in making decisions.

The exception to this is deciding who to marry or be in a relationship with for obvious reasons. Even with that type of choice, I would be aware of how my feelings were affecting me. 

Emotions famously cloud judgment. This can put our goals out of view and lead to poor choices. Knowing how you act when you are feeling upset or angry will lead to better decisions.

Logic is your best friend in decision-making.

Incorporating some of these methods into your decision-making process is going to change the game for you. They seem simple, but I promise you they are effective.

Making a choice takes one second. Those decisions might as well be 10X.
